Karen’s Replicator is a popular, lightweight freeware utility used to automate the replication and backup of files between folders, drives, and network locations. To ensure your data is automatically backed up every day, you must configure a specific “Job” and adjust the program’s global settings so that it runs silently in the background. How to Configure an Automated Daily Backup

Follow these operational steps to build your automated schedule:

Create a Job: Launch the application, click Edit Settings, and select New Job.

Define Paths: Enter a descriptive name for your backup, then browse to select your Source Folder and Destination Folder.

Choose File Handling: By default, the software only copies new or changed files. If you want a literal mirror image where items deleted from your computer are also removed from your backup drive, check Replicate file Deletions. Otherwise, leave it unchecked so your old files are never lost.

Set the Schedule: Navigate to the scheduling section within the job settings, set the repetition interval to Daily, and pick a preferred execution time (e.g., 1:00 AM or 7:00 PM).

Save Your Progress: Click Save Job, then click Save Changes and Close.

Perform a Manual Run: Highlight your newly created job on the main panel and click Run Highlighted Jobs Now to ensure your initial full backup copies successfully. Crucial Background Settings

Karen’s Replicator relies on its own built-in engine rather than Windows Task Scheduler to initiate backups. Because of this, the program must be actively running for your automated daily backups to execute on time.

To keep it active without cluttering your desktop, modify the following global settings: Laptop Backup System – Help with this STUPID computer!
